Happiest of Happy Saturdays! There is something about the weekend that makes my entire body just relax. Do you find that to be true in your life? You can let your shoulders down, take in a few deep breaths and relax, reflect on the week now behind us and plan for the week ahead. While also remaining present. That all sounds so harmonious, doesn’t it? Trust me, I can think back to season(s) in my life where the weekends meant anything but, “time to relax.” If this is the season you’re in, don’t worry- you’re going to come into a new phase soon.
Lately, at the end of the week, I’ve been challenging myself to find a moment where I was fully engaged and present. This should be an easy exercise, but with modern technology, it isn’t always so easy to truly be present. Can you think back on a time this week where you felt fully connected and present?
Our kids recently started a homeschool Surf/Skate Science class. It’s a pretty rad class 🤙🏼
Living in FL, you would think we would be at the beach all the time, or at least MORE. But, life gets busy and you take the beauty of the ocean for granted, so it is nice being forced to go to the beach for class. I know, poor us, huh?
But, I have to tell you- there is something magical about being fully present, especially when we’re forced to be- like watching my kids catching waves with friends and seeing them embrace the exhilarating rush of surfing. Every paddle, every wipeout, and every successful ride becomes a shared experience, deepening bonds and creating lasting memories. I watched with pride as my kids glided effortlessly on their surfboards, their laughter blending harmoniously with the sounds of nature. I hope that with each wave conquered, there's a sense of connection - not only to the water but to the people around them.
In that moment, time seemed to stand still, and all that mattered was the warmth of the sun on my skin, the gentle breeze rustling through my hair, the sound of waves crashing, and the joy in my company. In this moment, I realize, I am fully present. Just embracing the joy of watching my children embrace the ocean with pure happiness.
I am wishing you a wonderfully present Saturday!
